Gone are the days when we only advertised our businesses through traditional channels like radio, television, etc.

Advertising on digital platforms is the real deal. And when we talk of digital platforms to advertise on, Facebook is on top of the list.

Little wonder why many businesses use Facebook to advertise. So, today, we will be talking about how to create your ad campaign on Facebook.

But before we go into that, here are some reasons why you should advertise on Facebook:

Why should you advertise on Facebook?

  1. Facebook makes it easier for you to target your ideal audience
  2. It is easy to use and gives fast results
  3. Facebook ads are not expensive
  4. Facebook ads get you qualified leads, and very easily.

Facebook basically presents you with a digital market and gives you the freewill to market your goods and services, in a cheap and effective manner and to a more targeted audience.

How to create an ad campaign on Facebook?

It’s time to start creating your ads on Facebook and join the numerous companies that already use that platform to make themselves more leads, and revenue.

So, how do you get started?

1. Set your goals

Before you start creating an ad campaign at all, you should outline the goals you intend to achieve by advertising on Facebook.

Ask yourself: What does my business need at this point that advertising on Facebook can help with?

Do you:

  • Need to generate new leads
  • Need more traffic from Facebook to your website
  • Need more likes or follows on your page
  • Need awareness about an event, a product launch, a webinar, etc.
  • Need more engagement on your post and so on?

Make sure you have in mind what you intend to achieve. This will help in creating an ad campaign targeted at achieving your goals.

2. Go to Ads Manager

After you are done writing your goals, head to Facebook Ads Manager.

This is what you will see:

This is your performance dashboard.

This page contains all your ad campaigns, ad sets, and ads and the results each of them have gotten. Since you are new, you will find your dashboard empty.

On the dashboard, you will find slots for “Campaign”, “Ad sets” and “Ad”

Each ad you create begins with Campaign. This is where you fill out the objectives of the ad.

You see why it is necessary you fill out your goals for the ad before you even start anything?

After that, you get to Ad sets. This is where you pick out your audience, your budget, placement, and demographics.

The final bus stop is Ads. This is where you input the content of your ad.

With that being said, let’s down to creating your campaign.

3. Start creating

To begin your campaign, click on the create button, on the top left corner of the page. When you do, you will be asked if you want a guided creation or a quick creation.

A guided creation is a step by step guide that leads you through all the stages of creating your campaign.

But the quick creation allows you to complete all categories, both the campaign, ad set and ad on one page.

Since you are creating for the first time, you pick Guided creation.

4. Fill in your objectives

When you opt for guided creation, this is what you will see:

You will be asked to fill in your objectives and when you are done, click on the setup ad account button at the bottom.

When you do so, you will be lead to this page:

On this page, you set up your account. You are to fill in your country, the currency you will pay with and the time zone of your location.

When you are done, click on the “continue” button at the bottom right corner of the page.

5. Describe your audience

The next page is the Ad set.

First, you choose which Facebook page you want to promote.

This is also where you choose your audience. You fill out location, age, gender, and language, that is, if it is not English.

You can also input your custom audience (people who have already interacted with your business in some way or the other).

6. Describe your audience’s interest

The next stop is detailed targeting.

You include people who match a particular behavior, interest or demographics. For example, if you are a fashion brand, you include people who like “Fashion”.

You can also exclude people based on these factors.

If you feel fashion is too broad, you can ask Facebook to exclude people who love “fashion accessories” That streamlines your search.

Apart from this, you get the option of narrowing your audience. After which you include a connection type. All these make it easier for your ad to get to the right people.

When you are done, you click on the “save this audience” button.

You can now move to placements.

7. Identify placements

Placements tell Facebook where they can show your ad. This function helps to show your ads to the right people in the right places. You can opt for automatic placement or edit your placements yourself.

While editing your placement, you can choose which device and platform you want it displayed on.

Also, you get to choose if you want it on feeds, stories, instream, search, messages, in-article, etc.

Placement is so detailed, you can choose what kind of mobile device you want your ad displayed on, whether android or iOS – and if it should be viewed only when connected to Wi-Fi.

8. State your budget

When you are done, you go to budgets.

You can set cost control for each click or lead you to get through the ad. You can also fix a daily limit.

You can go ahead to choose if you want your ad running continuously or if you want it on for a particular duration.

With this, you are done with the ad set. Just click on the continue button.

9. Fix in your content

Now, you are in the last section, Ad.

This is where you choose between a single image ad or a carousel post (a collection of several images in one post).

You also choose your identity, your Instagram account and Facebook page you want to be represented by.

The next step is to insert your images or your video, insert your text and your links. You have the choice of creating a form that will help people interested in your business send you their info.

All that is left after all these is to click the confirm button and your ad campaign is set.

Bottom line

You shouldn’t miss out on the numerous benefits you can get from advertising with Facebook ads.

It is very easy to use and should not give you stress.
